Brian Feldman Gets Married and Now Annulled 01/18/11

Eleven months ago the Top 5 covered the marriage of our favorite performance artists, Brian Feldman. (Sorry Shaq!) In February of last year, Brian married a total stranger for a very good cause: to protest dedicated same sex couples not being allowed to marry, but heterosexual strangers being allowed to. (Good point, eh?)

Here’s video of that ceremony:

So what has happened since that time?

Well, politically very little, but Brian and his bride Hannah Miller have sacrificed their own personal relationships to further take a stand on this cause.  But, this project has run its course and so tomorrow Brian and Hannah are petitioning for an annulment.

According to the press release for the annulment proceedings: “In fact, the project itself and the inspiration of the people whose lives have been touched by it have only deepened their commitment to this worthwhile cause. It is the people who are waiting their turn for the right to marry, who are the true heroes and that Brian and Hannah commemorate with this project.”

Any interested parties are welcome to observe the proceedings. In lieu of annulment gifts, Brian and Hannah ask that you please make a donation to Equality Florida, a statewide education and advocacy organization dedicated to eliminating discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, gender and class.

Thank you Brian (and Hannah) for standing up for equal rights for all!

What a great way to show that “this institution” is being hurt by the very ones who claim they are “protecting it’ while keeping those who want to experience & cherish are left on the outside looking in. Sad state of affairs for all.
